In 1976, at the age of 16, Colleen
Fraser began teaching dance to children with neurological
disorders as part of a volunteer high school project. At
that time she also began her formal studies in anatomy
and her fascination with the human potential. She has been
developing her work since then.
Ms. Fraser has an extensive background in human kinetics,
food science and sports psychology, dance, bodywork, meditation
and yoga. She received and BS in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser
University in 1982 and has been certified as an Ayurvedic
Practitioner and Registered in British Columbia as a Massage
Therapist. Among her many teachers have been Dr.V.
Lad and Jaisri Lambert in Ayurveda and Kashi Richardson and
Tina James in Yoga, John Upledger in Cranial Sacral Therapy,
Fritz Smith, in Zero Balancing.
Colleen Fraser is a Whistler based
registered massage therapist and teacher of ancient ayurvedic
texts. She is a graduate of the West Coast College of Massage
Therapy and the Ayurvedic Institute, and continues her
self-study for over 20 years. Colleen is the director of
education and training for Vida Wellness Spas, originally
the co-founder of the spa which opened its flagship location
in 1989, formerly known as the Spa at Chateau Whistler.
The Spa has grown to encompass an integrated, multidisciplinary
team of more than 100 professionals, with goals including
continuing education and preventative healthcare. She works
primarily with massage practitioners and estheticians who
look to enhance their skill level. Ayurveda is a complete
life science and life strategy that facilitates health
so that we can employ all of our potentials in life.
